Day 78, 8.13.18, Burlington VT

Here we are on this expansive lake, mast up, sails up, but no wind. We are given false hope by an early morning wind that generally dies as soon as we cast off from our anchorage. Then the water is glassy, with an occasional light gust that might last twenty minutes. We try to sail but often just drift downwind. And of course when it does blow, it blows against us. Adding to that, the sun is unrelentingly intense, making us cower in whatever shade we can find. But at least we have shade – we see other sailboats similarly ghosting with no bimini or other sun protection.

Destination Burlington. First stop Verizon to replace Kristen's dead phone and my stolen one. We're now reconnected with the digital world! We pay for a marina slip and find ourselves fifty feet from a restaurant with a DJ playing pretty good music! Dancing time.
