Day 36, 7.2.18, Taughanock park

Monday brings us to Taughanock state park, a few miles up the shoreline. It's a nice park with docking for several dozen boats, but a low pedestrian bridge keeps any boat over eight feet high out. Instead we motor into the creek, where our two anchors have trouble getting a bite.

With Peter we hike the south rim to north rim trail. It's very hot out, and a swim in enticing. Unfortunately my cell phone drowns. But at least we get cooled off. Afternoon thunderstorms pop up just as we head out to hike the lower trail. We're the only ones heading in, while dozens of people are heading back to their cars for safety. We're soon soaked from head to toe. When we reach the end of the trail and the view of the bottom of the falls, we have the place to ourselves. Rains have ceased, and Kristen has brought her drone for a different angle for the photographs.

Back onboard Eclipse, we take shelter as rains come and go, make pizza and watch movies.

Days 36-38, August 4-6. Homeward bound

Exiting the New River near low is rather exciting. The whole estuary funnels through a narrow channel and can reach high speeds with rapids...
