Tuesday the heat wave breaks. Still very warm with bright sun, but the humidity has dropped, and we enjoy a good wind from the north as we tack to Sheldrake Point winery, Thirsty Owl winery, and Goose Watch winery.
They each have their own dock, and welcome boaters. There's also a tour boat that takes customers around, and we meet the captain, Dennis. He's been on boats all his life and speaks highly of the western end of the Erie Canal, and doesn't think the Welland is at all intimidating (we may have some wrong info on the depths of those locks).
We sample wines at Sheldrake and Owl, selecting one each to buy. At Goose Watch, we arrive well after closing, but tie up to their dock for the night. Tomorrow is the Fourth, and sporadic fireworks ring the lake. Deep dish pizza completes the day.
