The day dawned humid with the threat of
showers. A morning shower and some errands run at the drug store
were all that were required before shoving off. We continued our
motoring down the Oswego River through five more locks until we found
ourselves, at the end of the eight lock, in Oswego proper. A
floating dock right in town adjacent to the Best Western Hotel
promised us use of the hotel's Wi-Fi as well as their restrooms,
showers and continental breakfast for a minimal fee of $25.00.
After tying up and checking in with the
front desk of the hotel, we set out on a quest to fill our stove's
propane tank. Gary had found a propane vendor about a mile away and
although the tank was fairly bulky, it fit, somewhat and with some
coaxing and tethering, mostly within a backpack for transport. I
grabbed my electric scooter while Gary lit upon his skateboard as we
traveled off, through the downtown of Oswego, up and down hills and
much to the amusement of many pedestrians and motorists as we made
our way to the hardware store to get our needed refill.
Returning to Eclipse, Gary cooked up
the Catfish which we had been gifted the other day in Baldwinsville,
and a delicious dinner it was indeed. We tried our luck at locating
a venue that might be affording a live band for dancing but, after a
walk about town, found nothing that would suffice. We retired back
to Eclipse to read more of our current literary endeavor, “Fahrenheit
451” by Ray Bradbury and called it an evening. Tomorrow would find
us traipsing about the city to a variety of historic sites!
